Abstract:The aim of this experiment was to explore the effects of different breeding densities on vegetation coverage, slaughter performance and meat quality of Longshengfeng chickens under free-range mode.Three mountain forest areas with similar slope, slope direction, vegetation coverage and soil type were selected, and 80-day-old Longshengfeng chickens were divided into three breeding density groups:G1 group(400 chickens/flock),G2 group(800 chickens/flock)and G3 group(1 200 chickens/flock),and supplemented twice a day.The experiment lasted for 100 days. The results showed that the mortality rate of chickens in G1 group was the lowest, and the vegetation coverage after grazing was higher than before grazing. With the increase of culture density, the thigh muscle percentage of Longshengfeng chickens showed a decreasing trend, while the abdominal fat percentage showed an increasing trend. The leg muscle percentage in G1 group was significantly higher than that in G3 group(P<0.05),and the abdominal fat percentage was significantly lower than that in G3 group(P<0.05).The linoleic acid content of chicken breast in G1 group was significantly higher than that in G3 groups(P<0.05),and the polyunsaturated fatty acid content showed a decreasing trend with the increase of culture density. The contents of aspartate(Asp),total amino acid(TAA),flavor amino acid(FAA)and lysine(Lys)in chicken breast in G1 group were significantly higher than those in G3 group(P<0.05).The study indicates that the low culture density has the least impact on vegetation, and the slaughter performance and meat quality of Longshengfeng chickens are relatively good.
