Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of different levels of guanidine acetic acid on the growth performance, immunity, and antioxidant function of weaned piglets.A total of 96'Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire'weaned piglets, half male and half female, were selected at 21 days of age and randomly divided into four groups, with three replicates per group, each replicate consisting of eight weaned piglets. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups were supplemented with 250,500,and 1 000 mg/kg of guanidine acetic acid in the basal diet, respectively. The preliminary period was seven days, and the formal experimental period was 28 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the final weight of weaned piglets in 500 and 1 000 mg/kg GAA groups was significantly increased(P<0.05),the average daily gain of weaned piglets in 500 mg/kg GAA group was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the ratio of feed to gain of weaned piglets in all GAA groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The diarrhea rate of weaned piglets in 500 and 1 000 mg/kg GAA groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)content and lysozyme(LZM)activity of weaned piglets in 500 mg/kg GAA group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the content of interleukin-1(IL-1)was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Serum interleukin-6(IL-6)content in all GAA groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Serum interleukin-10(IL-10)content in 250 and 500 mg/kg GAA groups was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the serum total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)was significantly increased(P<0.05)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity was significantly increased(P<0.01)of weaned piglets in 500 and 1 000 mg/kg GAA groups. The glutathione(GSH)content in 500 mg/kg GAA group was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the serum cortisol(COR)content of weaned piglets in 500 mg/kg GAA group was extremely decreased(P<0.01).The content of insulin growth factor-1(IGF-1)in 500 and 1 000 mg/kg GAA groups was extremely increased(P<0.01)and the content of growth hormone(GH)was significantly increased(P<0.05).The study shows that appropriate GAA can improve the growth performance, immunity, and antioxidant capacity of weaned piglets, and the optimal dosage of GAA is 500 mg/kg.
