Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the feeding effect of different proportions of oak leaves on fattening Liaoning cashmere goats.A total of 32 Liaoning cashmere goats aged about two years old,weighing(48.57±1.98)kg were randomly divided into four groups, with four replicates per group(half male and half female),and two goats per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups 1,2,and 3 were fed diets containing 5%,10%,and 20%oak leaves, respectively. The preliminary trial period was 15 days, and the formal experimental period was 45 days. The results showed that the average daily weight gain of experimental group 3 was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the feed to weight ratio was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The cost per unit weight gain of experimental group 3 was the lowest, with an additional profit of 1.15 yuan per goat per day compared to the control group. The muscle water loss rate of experimental group 2 was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The study indicates that oak leaves can serve as a high-quality roughage during the fattening period of Liaoning cashmere goats, and the effect is better when the addition ratio is 20%.
