Abstract:The experiment aimed to explore the potential application of the functional indigenous grass Carotae fructus in livestock production, investigate the influence of inclusion ratios of Carotae fructus on the in vitro digestive characteristics of pasture.A single-factor completely randomized design was employed, with Carotae fructus added at proportions of 0,4%,8%,and 12%to four types of aboveground mixed pasture:Elymus sibiricus,Agropyron cristatum,Elymus nutans, and Medicago sativa. The results showed that after 72 h of fermentation, compared to the group without Carotae fructus, the addition of 4%Carotae fructus increased the IVDMD of Elymus sibiricus by 19.92%(P<0.05).Compared to the group without Carotae fructus, the addition of 8%Carotae fructus increased the IVDMD of Agropyron cristatum,Elymus nutans, and Medicago sativa by 16.76%,16.35%,and 1.83%,respectively(P<0.05).The study indicates that Carotae fructus,as a functional indigenous grass, can be used as a roughage for ruminants, improving the digestibility when added at a dosage of 4%to 8%.
