Abstract:Objectives? To evaluate the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) therapy in insomnia patients. Methods? Cochrane Library, PubMed, Medline, EMbase, Web of Science, China HowNet, Weipu and Wanfang databases were retrieved to collect randomized controlled trails (RCTs) that met the inclusion criteria. RevMan 5.3 software was used for statistical analysis. Results? A total of 8 RCTs involving 922 patients were included. Meta-analysis showed that MBSR significantly improved the sleep quality of insomnia patients [SMD=-1.02, 95%CI (from -1.21 to -0.83), P< 0.01], especially improving daytime dysfunction [MD=-0.35, 95%CI (from -0.41 to -0.30),P< 0.01], sleep efficiency [SMD=-0.88, 95%CI (from -1.14 to -0.61), P<0.01], relieve depression [SMD=-1.16, 95%CI (from -1.55 to -0.77), P<0.01] and anxiety [MD=-7.49, 95%CI (from -8.23 to -6.75), P< 0.01]. Conclusions? MBSR can improved sleep quality, daytime dysfunction, sleep efficiency, relieve anxiety and depression in patients with insomnia. However, further research and verification on anxiety and depression improving are needed.
