Efficacy of improved Naikan therapy combined with drugs on adolescents with anxiety

Abstract:Objective To study the efficacy of improved Naikan therapy combined with durgs on adolescents with anxiety.Methods Totals of 61 adolescents with anxiety who were treated in Psychological Clinic, People's Hospital of Zhongshan City were randomly divided into study group(n=32) and control group (n=29). Patients in study group were treated with sertraline combined with improved Naikan therapy, while those in control group were treated with sertraline combined with general psychological counseling therapy. Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Diagnosis Scale of Social Adaptability were measured before and after 1, 4 and 8 weeks' treatment on all patients.Results Scores of HAMA and SAS in both groups were significantly lower after 1, 4 and 8 weeks' treatment(P<0.05). Scores of HAMA and SAS after 1, 4 and 8 weeks' treatment in study group were significantly lower than that in control group(P<0.05). Scores of Diagnosis Scale of Social Adaptability in both groups were significantly higher after 1, 4 and 8 weeks' treatment(P<0.05). Scores of Diagnosis Scale of Social Adaptability after 1, 4 and 8 weeks' treatment in study group were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The efficacy of improved Naikan therapy combined with drugs is obvious.
