Relationship and features among self-expansion, self-differentiation and internet relationship dependence in college students

Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between self-expansion,self-differentiation and internet relationship dependence in college students.Methods Totals of 1 210 college students were measured by self-expansion questionnaire,self-differentiation questionnaire and internet relationship dependence inventory.Results Scores of internet relationship dependence was significantly lower than the median of the questionnaire score,and significantly lower in male than female (P < 0.01).Proportions of high,medium and low internet relationship dependence group were 14.63%,67.85% and 17.52% separately.There were significant differences in self expansion and self-differentiation on internet relationship dependence in three groups (P < 0.01).Regression analysis indicated that self-expansion could positively predict internet relationship dependence,while four dimensions of self-differentiation were negtive predictors.Conclusions Self-expansion and self-differentiation overall situation are good in college students.Self-differentiation and self-expansion could predicted the internet relationship dependence to a certain extent.
