Investigation on the mental health of left - behind children in rural junior middle school in Gansu
Abstract:Objective To investigate the status and characteristics of mental health of the left - behind children in Gansu rural areas and provide reference for intervention measures .Methods Stratified multistage cluster randomization was adopted to choose 786 students in the rural county .The Mental Health Test (M HT ) was used to determine psychological health status of the students .Results There was a signifi-cant difference between left - behind children and un - left - behind children on learning anxiety ,loneli-ness tendencies ,allergic tendencies ,terrorist tendencies and total anxiety tendency (P < 0 .05) ;the scores of learning anxiety ,physical symptoms ,terrorist tendencies and total anxiety tendency were high-er in girls than boys of left - behind children (P < 0 .05) ;the scores of learning anxiety ,allergic tenden-cies ,self - blame tendencies and total anxiety tendency were higher ,the scores of solitude and terrorist tendencies were lower in high grade students than first - year students (P < 0 .05) ;in the left - behind children ,the mental health condition of left - behind children with single - parent care was better than other types the mental health of left - behind children without care was the worst ;The higher education of the guardian ,the better mental health of the left - behind children .Conclusions The left - behind chil-dren were significant lower than the un - left - behind on the mental health .The girl ,the all parents go-ing out ,the left - behind long time ,low frequency contact with parents ,the unsupervised students ,the low education of guardian were the main factors affecting the mental health of left - behind children .
