Correlation between CRP,IL-6 in peripheral blood and memory function in patients with first -episode generalized anxiety disorder
Abstract:Objective To study the correlations between CRP、IL -6 in peripheral blood and mem‐ory function in patients with first -episode generalized anxiety disorder .Methods A total of 48 patients with first -episode generalized anxiety disorder and 48 healthy controls were recruited .Generalized Anx‐iety Disorder Scale(GAD -7) was used to assess the level of overall anxiety .Delayed Matching to Sam‐ple (DMS) from Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automatic Battery (CANTAB) was administered to assess the memory function .CRP was determined by immunoturbidimetric method and IL -6 was deter‐mined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA ) .Results Compared with controls ,first -epi‐sode generalized anxiety disorder patients have significantly less correct numbers (t= -6 .31‐-3 .62 ,P<0 .05)and longer mean reaction time(t=3 .45‐4 .17 ,P<0 .05)in different forms of DMS .The levels of CRP(t=3 .31 ,P<0 .05) and IL -6(t=14 .79 ,P<0 .05) in first -episode generalized anxiety disorder patients were significantly higher than controls .The levels of CRP and IL -6 were negatively correlated with correct numbers of total delayed and 12 s delayed in DMS(r= -0 .86‐-0 .75 ,P<0 .05) ,and posi‐tively correlated with reaction time of total delayed ,no delayed ,0 s delayed and 4 s delayed in DMS(r=0 .44‐0 .58 ,P<0 .05) .Conclusions Patients with the first -episode generalized anxiety disorder have abnormal levels of inflammatory cytokines in peripheral blood and impaired memory function ,and there are correlations between them .
