Relationship between adult attachment and the positive mental characters in recruits
Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between adult attachment and the positive mental characters in recruits .Methods A total of 1 962 male recruits completed the assessment of Adult Attach‐ment Scale (AAS) and Positive Mental Characters Scale for Recruits (PMCS -R) .Results In the re‐cruits ,safe style accounted for 74 .3% ,preoccupied style accounted for 10 .3% ,dismissing style accoun‐ted for 3 .4% ,fearful style accounted for 3 .5% .The positive mental characters total mean scores of the safety attachment recruits (3 .89 ± 0 .60) were higher than that of the insecure attachment recruits (3 .49 ± 0 .61)with statistical significance (t= 11 .05 ,P< 0 .05) .The positive mental characters scores were pos‐itively correlated with the attachment close and attachment dependence scores (r =0 .312‐0 .394 ,0 .194‐0 .247 ;P < 0 .05) and negatively correlated with the attachment anxiety scores (r = -0 .307‐-0 .213 , P < 0 .05) .Conclusions There are significant correlations between adult attachment and positive mental characters in recruits .
