Epidemiological characteristics of autism spectrum disorder in Songjiang district ,Shanghai
Abstract:Objective To explore the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in public kin-dergartens in Songjiang District ,Shanghai.Methods Totals of 33 public kindergartens registered in the competent department of education in Songjiang District ,Shanghai were surveyed.Autism Behavior Scale and Social Communication Questionnaire were used to assess the children.For positive people ,the diagnose was made by psychiatrists according to the American psychiatric diagnosis and statistical analy-sis of manual ,5th edition (DSM -5).Results A total of 5704 children received screening ,the average age was (5.3 ± 0.7) years.Males (2920) accounted for 51.2% and females (2784) accounted for 48.8%.Six children were diagnosed with ASD ,ratio of male vs female was 5:1;point prevalence was 1.05‰ ,aged 4.1-6.1 years ,average age was 5.0 years.Three children were with high risk factors of pregnancy and birth.Conclusions The prevalence of ASD in public kindergartens in Songjiang District , Shanghai is lower than reports at home and abroad.Related risk factors should be concerned in prenatal care.
