A study of relationship among social anxiety,family environment and relationship skills of freshmen in a university
Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship among social anxiety ,family environment and relationship skills of freshmen in a university ,provide theoretical basis for subsequent psychological in‐tervention strategies .Methods Interaction Anxiety Scale (IAS) ,Family Environment Scale -Chinese Version (FES) and Relationships Skills Questionnaire (RSQ ) were used to evaluate all the freshmen with cluster sampling method in a university .Results Social anxiety and the contradiction of family envi‐ronment were positively correlated (P < 0 .01);social anxiety and the intimacy ,emotional expression , independence ,informative and entertaining ,moral religion ,organization ,control ,relationship skills were negatively correlated (P < 0 .01) .Hierarchical regression analysis results showed that after con‐trolling demographic variables ,entertaining ,informative ,contradictoriness ,emotional expression ,suc‐cess ,organization and relationship skills contributed a variance value of social anxiety ,which explained 33 .6% variance ,the entertainment made the largest ,the relationship skills was the second contribution to the variance value .The relationship skills played a mediating role between family environment and so‐cial anxiety .Conclusions Bad family environment and the low level of relationship skills are the effective predictor of social anxiety .
