Post-schizophrenia depression and mental intervention

Abstract:Objective To investigate the incidence rate of post- schizophrenia depression(PSD) and the effects of mental intervention. Methods Carried out an investigation for hospitalized schizophrenia with Hamilton's depression scale(HAMD) and undertook mental intervention for the patients with post- schizophrenia by supporting psychotherapy , and evaluated the effect with HAMD after intervention. Results 99 of 358 patients underwent depression, the incidence rate is 27.65%. The total scale of HAMD decreased obviously. Conclusions Post-schizophrenia depression is common, and can be improved effectively by mental intervention.
