Synaptic plasticity
Abstract:Nervous system is modifiable and more plastic than we thought. Neuronal plasticity or synaptic plasticity is maximal during brain development and still exists in adult brain. In the last ten years, most effort in the study of synaptic plasticity has been putting on activity dependent plasticity, in terms of LTP and LTD, which are thought underlines mechanisms of learning and memory. Here we briefly reviewed the concept of plasticity and summarized the research progresses of some aspects in activity dependent plasticity and developmental plasticity.
