Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of auricular point pressing with beans combined with emotional care on sleep quality, psychological resilience, and self-efficacy in esophageal cancer patients during chemotherapy. Methods 138 esophageal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Anyang Cancer Hospital from August 2023 to December 2024 were divided randomly into a control group(receiving routine care)and a observation group(receiving auricular point pressing with beans combined with emotional care on the basis of routine care),69 patients in each.Sleep quality, psychological resilience,self-efficacy,and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results After the intervention, the scores on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and the Esophageal Cancer-specific Quality of Life Questionnaire(QLQ-OES18)decreased in both groups, while the scores on all dimensions and the total scores of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)and the Chinese version of the Strategies Used by People to Promote Health(SUPPH)scale increased(P<0.05).The scores on all items of the PSQI and the scores on the eating and pain aspects of the QLQ-OES18 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the scores on all dimensions of the CD-RISC and SUPPH scales were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Auricular point pressing with beans combined with emotional care can effectively improve sleep quality, and enhance psychological resilience,self-efficacy,and quality of life in esophageal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
