Study on Detoxification and Synergistic Effects of Liqi Huayu Decoction combined with Chemotherapy in the Treatment of Advanced Esophageal Cancer with Phlegm-Qi Obstruction Type

Abstract：Objective To explore the detoxification and synergistic effects of Liqi Huayu Decoction combined with chemotherapy in patients with advanced esophageal cancer(EC)of phlegm qi obstruction type.Methods 90 patients with advanced EC were included,all of them received treatment in our hospital from May 2022 to May 2024.They were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table method.The control group of 45 cases received paclitaxel+cisplatin chemotherapy regimen,while the observation group of 45 cases received additional treatment with Liqi Huayu Tang.One chemotherapy cycle was 3 weeks,and both groups were treated continuously for 2 chemotherapy cycles.Compare the clinical efficacy,serum tumor markers,immune function,TCM syndrome score,physical condition,and adverse reactions between two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group(91.11％)was higher than that of the control group(73.33％).After treatment,the levels of squamous cell carcinoma associated antigen(SCC),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),and Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome score were lower than those of the control group.The levels of immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M(IgM),immunoglobulin A(IgA),and Karnofsky's syndrome score were higher than those of the control group(P＜0.05);The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group(11.10％)were lower than those in the control group(33.34％)(P＜0.05).Conclusion The combination of Liqi Huayu Decoction and chemotherapy has a good detoxifying and enhancing effect on the treatment of phlegm qi obstruction type EC in the middle and late stages.It can effectively improve clinical symptoms,reduce SCC and CEA levels,alleviate chemotherapy induced immune suppression,and improve physical condition.It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
