Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of lansoprazole combined with trimebutin maleate in elderly patients with reflux esophagitis. Methods 90 elderly RE patients admitted to Shencheng Hospital of Xinyang City from January 2023 to October 2023 were enrolled and divided into 2 groups by randomly. The control group consisted of 45 patients who were treated with PPI alone, taking lansoprazole orally 30 minutes before meals, once a day,30 mg each time. The observation group consisted of 45 patients who were treated with additional prokinetic drugs on top of the control group, taking trimebutine maleate orally three times a day,100 mg each time before meals, for 8 weeks.Clinical effective rate, symptom improvement, upper gastrointestinal motility improvement and adverse reactions were observed in 2 groups. Results The observation group demonstrated a significantly higher overall response rate compared to the control group(P<0.05);the time to resolution of all clinical symptoms in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).Compared to baseline(pre-treatment)values within each group, both groups exhibited significant increases in upper esophageal sphincter resting pressure, lower esophageal sphincter resting pressure, and serum motilin levels after treatment. The magnitude of these increases was greater in the observation group than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between 2 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination therapy of prokinetic drugs and PPI is more effective in treating elderly patients with RE than using PPI alone. The patient′s symptoms improve faster, which is more conducive to improving upper gastrointestinal motility and does not increase the incidence of adverse reactions.
