Research Progress of CircRNA in Diagnosis and Prognosis of Esophageal Cancer

Abstract：Circular RNA(circRNA)is a novel endogenous circular structured non-coding RNA,which is regulated by cis-acting elements and related proteins in trans by a"back-splicing"mechanism.CircRNA plays an important role in gene splicing,transcription,chromatin modification,miRNA sponge action and protein capture.CircRNA are highly stable and differentially expressed in different tissues.CircRNA aberrant expression is associated with tumourigenesis and metastasis.However,circRNAs with important functions in esophageal cancer and their mechanisms of action are still unclear.In this paper,we review the role of circRNA in the development of esophageal cancer and its research progress as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of esophageal cancer,taking into account the functional characteristics of circRNA.
