Abstract:Objective To analyze the association between the C-reactive protein-triglyceride-glucose index(CTI)and cardiometabolic diseases(CMD)among middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults. Methods This cross-sectional study was based on data from the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS).Multicollinearity among variables was examined using the variance inflation factor(VIF).Multivariate Logistic regression was performed to evaluate the association between CTI and CMD.Subgroup analysis was conducted to assess the effect of CTI on CMD in dif-ferent subpopulations.Restricted cubic spline(RCS)models were used to explore nonlinear associations.Receiver operat-ing characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was applied to assess the predictive efficiency of CTI for CMD.Results A total of 7,316 middle-aged and elderly participants were included, among whom 2,397(32.76%)had CMD.After adjusting for potential confounders, elevated CTI was significantly associated with CMD(OR=2.53,95%CI:2.24-2.86,P<0.001).Subgroup analysis revealed a significant interaction between smoking history and the CTI-CMD association(P<0.05).RCS analysis indicated a significant nonlinear relationship between CTI and CMD(both P<0.001).The ROC curve showed that CTI had moderate predictive performance for CMD(area under the curve=0.633;cut-off value=3.839).Conclusion CTI is significantly associated with the presence of CMD in middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults and may serve as a useful indicator for CMD risk screening in this population.
