Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of coping style between perceived stress and negative psychol-ogy in patients undergoing interventional surgery for intracranial aneurysms. Methods A total of 208 patients who under-went interventional surgery for intracranial aneurysms were selected.A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect gen-eral information. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)was employed to assess negative psychology, the Perceived Stress Scale(PSS)to evaluate perceived stress, and the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ)to mea-sure coping style.Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships among PSS,MCMQ,and HADS scores. The mediating effect of coping style was analyzed using Model 4 of the PROCESS macro developed by Hayes, and the Bootstrap method was applied to test the significance of the mediating effect. Results The total HADS score was 11.43(8.00,15.00),with an average item score of 0.82(0.57,1.07).The anxiety subscale(HADS-A)and depression subscale(HADS-D)scores were 6.09(4.00,8.00)and 5.35(3.00,7.00),respectively,with corre-sponding average item scores of 0.86(0.57,1.14)and 0.71(0.43,1.00).The total MCMQ score was 56.58(51.00,63.00),with an average item score of 3.54(3.20,3.85).The avoidance, confrontation, and resignation dimension scores were 18.32(16.00,20.00),25.95(24.00,28.00),and 12.13(11.00,14.00),respectively,with average item scores of 2.62(2.29,2.86),3.24(3.00,3.50),and 2.43(2.20,2.80).The total PSS score was 14.26(11.00,17.00),with an average item score of 1.43(1.10,1.70).The PSS total score was positively correlated with the HADS total score(r=0.587,P<0.05).The MCMQ total score was negatively correlated with PSS score and HADS score(r=-0.337,-0.347;both P<0.05).Mediation analysis indicated that perceived stress was positively correlated with negative psychology(P<0.05).Even after accounting for the influence of coping style, perceived stress still demonstrated a significant positive predictive effect on negative psychology(P<0.05),while coping style was negatively correlated with negative psychology(P<0.05).The 95%confidence intervals for both the direct effect and the mediating effect did not in-clude 0.Specifically,the direct effect value was 0.543,and the mediating effect value was 0.058,accounting for 90.3%and 9.7%of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion Coping style plays a partial mediating role between perceived stress and negative psychology in patients undergoing interventional surgery for intracranial aneurysms.
