Abstract:Objective To investigate the current status and influencing factors of learned helplessness among postop-erative glioma patients during concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and to provide evidence for targeted clinical psychological in-terventions.Methods We conducted a cross-sectional survey among 241 postoperative glioma patients who underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).Data were collected using a general information questionnaire, the learned help-lessness scale(LHS),the general self-efficacy scale(GSES),the perceived social support scale(PSSS),and the sense of coherence scale(SOCS).We used Pearson correlation analysis to examine the relationships among learned helpless-ness(LH),self-efficacy,perceived social support, and sense of coherence. We compared LH scores among subgroups with different demographic and clinical characteristics.Taking LH as the dependent variable, multiple linear regression analysis was performed to identify independent factors associated with LH in postoperative glioma patients during CCRT.Results The mean total LH score among postoperative glioma patients during CCRT was 43.80±18.55,indicating a moderately high level.Pearson correlation analysis revealed that LH was negatively correlated with self-efficacy,perceived social support, and sense of coherence(r=-0.413,-0.389,and-0.321,respectively;all P<0.01).Patients who are older, had a lower educational level,no children,a lower KPS score, and were in a higher clinical stage tended to have a higher score of LH(all P<0.05).Conversely,there were no significant differences in LH scores with respect to place of residence, type of medical insurance, marital status, average monthly household income, tumor location,or presence of co-morbidities(all P>0.05).The multiple linear regression analysis further demonstrated that age, educational level,child-bearing status,KPS score, clinical stage, general self-efficacy,perceived social support, and sense of coherence were inde-pendent influencing factors of LH in postoperative glioma patients during CCRT(all P<0.05).Conclusions Postopera-tive glioma patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy experienced generally high levels of LH.Age,educational level, childbearing status,KPS score, clinical stage,self-efficacy,perceived social support, and sense of coherence were independent influencing factors.
