Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of standing Baduanjin exercise prescription in the treatment of early-stage knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods A total of 110 patients with early-stage KOA were selected.According to the exercise prescription, the patients were divided into the observation group and control group, with 55 patients in each group.Three patients in the observation group and six patients in the control group withdrew from the study due to per-sonal reasons.Patients in the observation group received standing Baduanjin exercise prescription.Personalized Baduan-jin TCM exercise prescriptions were formulated based on the six key elements of exercise prescription(frequency,intensi-ty,duration,type,volume,and progression),combined with the patient's condition and therapeutic principles.Patients in the control group received an exercise prescription focused on knee muscle strength and functional training. Both groups performed their respective exercises once daily for 30 minutes per session, five times per week. Each treatment course last-ed 4 weeks, and a total of three courses were completed. The visual analog scale(VAS)was used to assess the patients'subjective knee pain intensity before treatment and at 1 and 3 months after treatment. The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)score was employed to evaluate knee joint symptoms and functions, and the 36-item short-form health survey(SF-36)score was adopted to assess the patients'health status. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results At 1 and 3 months of treatment, the VAS and WOMAC scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment in the same group, while the SF-36 scores were higher(all P<0.05).Moreover,the above indicators in the observation group were better than those in the control group at the same period(all P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group(94.23%)was higher than that of the control group(89.80%),but no sta-tistically significant difference was found(P>0.05).Conclusion The standing Baduanjin exercise prescription can alle-viate knee joint pain in patients with early-stage KOA,improve their joint function and symptoms, and enhance their physi-cal and mental health levels.
