Effect of CICARE communication mode in preoperative preparation for day surgery of patients with rotator cuff injury

Abstract：Objective To explore the application effect of the Connect,Introduce,Communicate,Ask,Respond,Exit(CICARE)communication mode in the preoperative preparation for patients with rotator cuff injury undergoing day sur-gery.Methods Eighty patients with rotator cuff injury who underwent day surgery from March 2021 to June 2022 were se-lected as the control group;through propensity score matching analysis,80 patients with rotator cuff injury from July 2022 to October 2023 were set as the observation group.Patients in the control group adopted the traditional preoperative readi-ness,whereas patients in the observation group were additionally provided with the CICARE communication mode during preoperative preparation.We statistically analyzed the completion status of the preoperative preparations for the two groups(prohibiting drinking and fasting,taking medications as prescribed by the doctor,preparing preoperative supplies,and han-dling the admission procedures),and the cancellation rate of surgery,the rate of delayed operation,the awareness rate of health education,and the patient satisfaction with preoperative education by nurses were compared between the two groups.Results The observation group demonstrated significantly higher completion rates for preoperative fasting,medication ad-herence,surgical material preparation,and admission procedures than the control group(all P<0.05).The surgery cancel-lation rate and delayed start rate were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(both P<0.05),while health education knowledge awareness and patient satisfaction rates were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusion The preoperative readiness guided by the CICARE communication mode can effectively improve the compliance of patients with preoperative preparation,ensure the smooth progress of sur-gery,and significantly improve the health education knowledge awareness and patient satisfaction rate.
