Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)infection among 15,552 hospitalized children with respiratory infections in Tianjin from November 2015 to October 2024,and to provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of RSV.Methods Data on RSV antigen detection from 15,552 hospital-ized children with respiratory infections in Tianjin from November 2015 to October 2024 were collected. The epidemiologi-cal characteristics of RSV infection were analyzed based on the age, gender, month of onset, season, and year of the chil-dren.Results Among the 15,552 children with respiratory infections, the overall positive rate of RSV antigen detection was 14.01%.When stratified by gender, there was no statistically significant difference in the positive rate of RSV antigen detection between male and female children(P>0.05).When stratified by age,the highest positive rate was observed in children aged 0-<7 months, followed by those aged 7 months to<1 year and 1-<2 years. The differences in positive rates among different age groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05).When stratified by month of onset, the positive rate of RSV antigen detection was greater than 17%from November to March, while it dropped significantly in other months. The differences in positive rates among different months were statistically significant(all P<0.05).When stratified by sea-son,the positive rate of RSV antigen detection was the highest in winter, followed by spring, then autumn, and the lowest in summer. The differences in positive rates among different seasons were statistically significant(all P<0.05).When stratified by year, the differences in positive rates among different years were also statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusions Among the 15,552 hospitalized children with respiratory infections in Tianjin from November 2015 to Oc-tober 2024,there was no gender difference in RSV infection.Infants aged 0-<7 months were at the highest risk. The peak incidence period was from November to March each year, with the highest incidence in winter. The period from No-vember 2017 to October 2018 had the highest positive rate compared to other years.
