Investigation and analysis of awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment knowledge and occupational exposure protection among medical personnel in Qingzhou stomatological medical institutions

Abstract:Objective To investigate and analyze the awareness of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)prevention and treatment knowledge and occupational exposure protection of medical staff in Qingzhou stomatological medical institutions.Methods Medical staff from 5 public hospitals and 62 private den-tal clinics in Qingzhou were selected for the study,and 220 subjects were selected by random stratification and random sampling.Combined with the knowledge of nosocomial infection management and HIV prevention and treatment at home and abroad,the"Questionnaire on the Awareness of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Occupational Exposure Protection of Medi-cal Personnel in Qingzhou Oral Medical Institutions"was formulated,and the HIV/AIDS-related knowledge(awareness rate)and occupational exposure protection(awareness rate)of medical staff were investigated by means of on-site distribu-tion of questionnaires.A total of 220 questionnaires were distributed and 213 valid questionnaires were returned.Results The awareness rate of 21 questions related to HIV/AIDS among 213 medical staff in oral medical institutions was relatively high,ranging from 18.78%-99.53%,and 12 of them had an awareness rate of more than 80.00%.The awareness rate of 9 questions of HIV occupational exposure prevention knowledge among medical staff was low,ranging from 7.04%-82.16%,and the awareness rate of 5 problems exceeded 60.00%.The overall quality of HIV/AIDS preven-tion and management in the medical institutions where medical staff worked was low,with the effective rate of 17 problems related to HIV/AIDS prevention and management being 12.68%-100.00%,and the effective rate of 5 problems was high-er than 60.00%.Conclusions The medical staff of Qingzhou stomatological medical institutions do not have a compre-hensive understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment,and there is a relative lack of protective measures against HIV/AIDS occupational exposure.The overall quality of HIV/AIDS prevention and management in oral medical institu-tions is not high,and rectification and supervision need to be strengthened.
