Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among patients at Qianxinan People's Hospital in Guizhou, coupled with an analysis of its associated influencing factors, which can provide a scientific founda-tion for the formulation of effective public health strategies. Methods This study retrospectively collected data from 105,296 patients who underwent serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D]level testing during their visits to Qianxinan People's Hospital as the study subjects. The serum 25(OH)D levels were detected by electrochemiluminescence method, and based on the"Consensus on the Clinical Application of Vitamin D and Its Analogues",the study subjects were catego-rized into three groups:individuals with sufficient vitamin D,those with vitamin D insufficiency, and those with vitamin D deficiency.Data on gender, age, hospitalization status, and season of visit were collected. The serum 25(OH)D levels and vitamin D deficiency status of the subjects were compared.Binary Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing vitamin D deficiency among the study participants. Results The serum 25(OH)D level of 105,296 study subjects was 26.68(19.46,37.02)ng/mL;among them,28,298 cases(26.87%)had vitamin D deficiency, and 34,769 cases(33.02%)had vitamin D insufficiency. The serum 25(OH)D levels in male subjects were higher than those in female subjects, and the vitamin D deficiency rate was lower in males than in females(all P<0.05).Outpatients had a higher serum 25(OH)D level and a lower vitamin D deficiency rate compared with inpatients(both P<0.05).The serum 25(OH)D level decreased, and the vitamin D deficiency rate increased with increasing age.The highest 25(OH)D level and lowest deficiency rate were found in the 0-6 years group, while the lowest 25(OH)D level and highest deficiency rate were observed in the≥70 years group(both P<0.01).The 25(OH)D levels were lower in hospitalized patients in compari-son with the outpatient ones. The serum 25(OH)D level was the highest in summer, followed by autumn, spring, and win-ter.The vitamin D deficiency rate was the highest in winter, followed by spring, autumn, and summer(all P<0.05).The results of the binary Logistic regression analysis indicated that gender, age, hospitalization status, and season were all sig-nificant factors influencing vitamin D deficiency in the study subjects. Conclusions Vitamin D insufficiency and defi-ciency are prevalent among patients visiting Qianxinan People's Hospital.Gender, age, hospitalization status, and season are all factors that influence vitamin D deficiency.
