Abstract:Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of multi-tract percutaneous nephrolithotomy ( PCNL) guided by ultrasonography ( US) in treatment of nephritic staghorn calculi during one-stage operation. Methods We retrospec-tively analyzed the clinical effects and complications of 62 cases ( 64 kidney ) of patients with nephrotic staghorn calculi treated by multi-tract (24F) PCNL during one-stage operation. Results The one-stage multi-tract PCNL were finished on 64 kidneys. After 48 hours, there were 49 (76. 6%) kidneys with stone-free, 12 kidneys (18. 8%) with CIRF and 3 kid-neys (4. 7%) with residual stone ( >4 mm3, the residual stones were discharged by ESWL successfully). The mean oper-ation time was (82. 44 ± 21. 28) min. Eighteen cases (29. 1%) with complications were found, including 12 cases of grade Ⅰ, 6 cases of grade Ⅱ, and no complications above grade Ⅲ. Conclusion US-guided multi-tract PCNL in treat-ment of nephritic staghorn calculi during one-stage operation is safe and feasible.
