Efficacy and safety of Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy for eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection:A systematic review

Abstract：Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (Hp).Methods CBM, CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP Data, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed and Embase database were electronically searched from inception to May 2015 for all the relevant randomized controlled trials ( RCTs) of Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy for the eradication of Hp .Two reviewers independently screened literature , extracted data , and assessed the risk of bias of included studies .Then meta-a-nalysis was performed by using RevMan 5.3 software.Results A total of 7 RCTs of 593 patients, including 297 patients in the Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy ( observation group ) and 296 patients in the Clarithromycin-based standard triple therapy ( control group ) were included .The results of meta-analysis showed that:the Hp eradication rates of the observa-tion group and control group were 88.9%and 71.39%, respectively (RR=1.25, 95%CI:1.15-1.35, P<0.00 001). Compared with the control group , the incidence of total adverse reaction of the observation group was lower ( RR=0.56, 95%CI:0.36-0.89, P=0.01).The results of our meta-analysis were stable.There was no evidence of substantial publi-cation bias of the included studies .Conclusion Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy had high Hp eradication rate and low adverse reaction rate for Hp infection as compared with Clarithromycin-based standard triple therapy .
