Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of hyperbaric oxygen ( HBO ) on the spinal cord injury ( SCI) , and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods Twenty-five healthy and clean SD adult rats were randomly di-vided into the SCI group (n=10), HBO group (n=10) and the control group (n=5).The SCI model rats were prepared in the SCI and HBO groups, after the success of molding, the HBO group received HBO treatment;the vertebral plates of rats in the control group were opened and sutured without damage to the spinal cord.BBB rating and synaptophysinⅠmR-NA in the spinal cord tissues at different time points (6 h after molding and 1, 3, 7, 14 and 21 d, which is counted as T1 , T2 , T3 , T4 , T5 and T6 ) were observed in the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the BBB rating and synaptophysinⅠmRNA expression was increased in the HBO group and SCI group at each time point ( T3 , T4 , T5 and T6 ) (all P<0.05).Compared with the SCI group, the BBB rating and synaptophysin Ⅰ mRNA expression was increased in the HBO group at each time point (T3, T4, T5 and T6) (all P<0.05).Conclusion HBO promoted the recovery of the injured spinal cord of rats, which may be related with the up-regulation of synaptophysin Ⅰ mRNA expression in the in-jured spinal cord tissues.
