Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the testicular and epididymal sperm DNA integrity rates , sperm acro-some integrity rate and reaction rate in patients with obstructive azoospermia (OA), and thus to choose better sperms for OA patients to the assisted reproduction .Methods A total of 250 cases of OA patients were treated by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).The testicular sperm was obtained by TESA (group A, 110 cases) and the epididymal sperm was obtained by PESA (group B, 140 cases). We detected the sperm DNA integrity rate , sperm acrosome integrity rate and re-action rate .Results No significant difference was found in the sperm DNA integrity rate and sperm acrosome reaction rate between the two groups (all P>0.05).The sperm acrosome integrity rates of group A and group B were respectively 48. 39%±22.46%and 40.10%±20.77%, and significant difference was found between the two groups (P<0.05).Con-clusions There are no significant differences in the testicular and epididymal sperm DNA integrity rates and sperm acro -some reaction rate, but the testicular sperm acrosome integrity rate is better than the epididymal one .The outcome of ICSI in the testicular sperm may be better than that in the epididymal sperm .
