Correlations between TCM syndrome types and levels of Lp(a) and Cys C in serum of patients with diabetic foot

Abstract：Objective To detect the levels of lipoprotein ( a) [ Lp( a) ] and cysteine proteinase inhibitor C ( Cys C) in serum of patients with diabetic foot (DF), and to analyze the correlations of two indicators with dampness-heat type, yang deficiency of spleen and kidney combined with meridian barrier type .Methods A total of 139 patients with damp-ness-heat type ( group A ) , 46 patients with yang deficiency of spleen and kidney combined with meridian barrier type (group B) and 78 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) (group C) were enrolled.Fasting blood were collected for the determinations of Lp(a) and Cys C.The results were analyzed statistically.Results The levels of Lp(a) and Cys C in the group A and group B were significantly higher than those in the group C , and two indicators in the group B were significantly higher than those in the group A (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that Lp( a) and Cys C were risk factors for yang deficiency of spleen and kidney combined with meridian barrier type of DF ( all P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that Lp (a) was the independent risk factor for yang deficiency of spleen and kidney combined with meridian barrier type of DF (P<0.05).Conclusions The Lp(a) and Cys C levels in the serum are significantly increased in DF patients , which indicates that Lp ( a) and Cys C may participate in the occur-rence and development of microangiopathy of DF patients with yang deficiency of spleen and kidney combined with meridian barrier type .
