Expression and significance of GFRα-1 in immature teratoma tissues of children

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of glial cell line derived neurotrophic factor receptor α-1 (GFRα-1) on imma-ture teratoma of children.Methods Thirty-four cases of children with teratoma were selected and were divided into immature teratoma group (11 cases, observation group) and mature teratoma group (23 cases, control group) according to the pathological results.The expression of GFRα-1 mRNA and protein in the teratoma tissues were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR and Western blotting, respectively.Results The expression of GFRα-1 mRNA and protein in the observation group was higher than that of the control group (all P<0.05).Conclusions The GFRα-1 expression is increased in the immature terato-ma tissues, which may be a molecular marker to distinguish benign teratoma and malignant teratoma in children.
