Expression of OLFM4 in urotheIiaI carcinoma and its reIationship with cIinicopathoIogicaI feathers

Abstract：Objective To investigate the expression of olfactomedin-4 (OLFM4) in urothelial carcinoma (UC) and its relationship with clinicopathological feathers.Methods The protein expression of OLFM4 in 160 UC tissues ( histological grade:57 cases of low grade, 103 cases of high grade) and 19 adjacent normal urothelial tissues were detected by immunohis-tochemistry.OLFM4 mRNA and protein levels in 4 fresh bladder tissues were analyzed by Western blotting and real-time PCR.The relationship between OLFM4 in UC tissues and clinicopathological feathers was analyzed.Results The OLFM4 expression was observed in the cytoplasm of high grade and low grade of UC tissues.The OLFM4 expression in UC tissues was significantly higher than that of the adjacent normal urothelial tissues, and the OLFM4 expression in UC tissues of high grade was significantly higher than that of the low grade (all P<0.01).The expression of OLFM4 protein and mRNA was gradually increased along with the increase of pathological grades (P<0.05).The UC recurrence was inclined to low expression of OLFM4 (P<0.01).Conclusion The high expression rate of OLFM4 in UC tissues was higher than that in the normal urothelial tissues, and the UC recurrence may be related with the low expression of OLFM4.
