Meta-analysis of relative risk of thyroid cancer in patients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the relative risk of thyroid cancer in patients with diabetes mellitus ( DM) .Meth-ods Using Meta-analysis to analyze the related articles (1990-2014)searched from MEDLINE, PUBMED, EMBASE and WOS.Results A total of 13 articles were screened out , and the number of cases was 4276 .The meta-analysis showed that:the relative risk (RR) of thyroid cancer in DM patients was higher than that of patients without DM [RR=1.180, 95%CI=(1.080, 1.280), P=0.000].No statistical difference was found in the RR of thyroid cancer of male DM pa-tients [RR=1.110, 95%CI=(0.800,1.530), P=0.546], and the risk of thyroid cancer in female DM patients was higher [RR=1.400, 95%CI=(1.17, 1.68), P=0.000].Conclusion The RR of thyroid cancer in DM patients was high than that of patients without DM , and the risk of female DM patients was higher .
