Abstract:Objective To evaluate the role of urinary albumin polymers ( PAs) in diagonosis and prognosis of IgA ne-phropathy(IgAN).Methods A total of 34 patients with biopsy proven IgAN were studied .The existence of urinary PAs was detected by western blot .Data were processed with the classes of tubulointerstitial lesions and laboratory tests such as levels of osmotic pressure of urine, 24 h urinary protein quantitation and serum creatinine (Scr). Results Scores of tubu-lointerstitial lesions , twenty-four-hour urine protein quantitation and Scr level were all significantly higher in urinary PAs positive group than in PAs negative group ( all P<0.05);level of osmotic pressure was significantly lower in urinary PAs positive group than in PAs negative group (P<0.05).Conclusion Urinary PAs may have close relationship with the pro-gression of IgAN, may be a useful index for the diagonosis and progonosis of IgAN .
