Investigation and anaIysis of prescreening questionnaires on chiIdhood asthma in the ruraI area in Beijing Tongzhou district

Abstract：Objective To prescreen the prevalence of bronchial asthma for children in the rural area in Tongzhou Dis -trict, Beijing, analyze the medical history , sex, age distribution of the asthmatic children , and to provide the epidemiologi-cal evidence for the prevention and management of rural children with bronchial asthma .Methods These investigations took the methods of random cluster sampling , and applied the childhood asthma epidemiological survey screening table for-mulated by the national asthma collaborative group in 2011 .Questionnaire investigations were done in the rural area of Tongzhou District, including 12 kindergartens in 5 villages, health-care hospitals, and some children aged from 0 to 14 years old in the middle school and primary school .Results Totally 4 000 copies of prescreening questionnaires were sent out, and 3 779 copies were got back as the valid ones , the valid response rate was 94.5%.These questionnaires results showed that the prevalence of childhood asthma (including infants and children ) was 1.2%in the rural area in Tongzhou district.The prevalence in boys and girls was 1.7%and 0.8%respectively, the prevalence in boys was obviously higher than that in girls(P<0.05);the prevalence of asthma in Children ever suffered from allergic rhinitis , eczema, or the his-tory of Eczema, were higher than those who did not suffered (P<0.05 or<0.01).Conclusion The asthma prevalence of childhood is relatively low in the rural area in Tongzhou District , Beijing, and the asthma of childhood has its characters on sex, age, allergy, and family history of allergies .The education and management on childhood asthma in the rural area need to be improved .
