Effect of Parkinson′s disease on surgical operation patients in the perioperative period

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Parkinson′s disease ( PD) on surgical operation patients in the peri-operative period.Methods The cases were selected from the date of record room in a total of 10 years.48 patients with PD from department of vascular surgery, department of traumatology, department of general surgery, and 48 patients from the respective departments without PD were retrospectively compared, including the complications, treatment time and the rate of recovery.Results Postoperative complications associated with fall in patients with PD was more common than that in patients without PD (P<0.05);the rehabilitation rate in patients with PD was lower than that in patients without PD (P<0.05).Combined to PD patients with trauma, the incidence of postoperative fall, hospitalization time, the rehabilita-tion rate were significantly longer than those in patients without PD patients (all P<0.05).Conclusion PD may influ-ence the perioperative rehabilitation and complications in surgical operation patients, especially in the department of trau-matology.
