Abstract:Objective To observe the curative effect of minimally invasive reduction and intramedullary nail fixation in treatment of humeral fractures .Methods Sixty-two patients with humeral shaft fractures were randomly divided into 2 groups:the observation group (32 cases) and the control group (30 cases).Patients in the observation group were treated with small incision index guiding retrograde self-locking intramedullary nail fixation , and patients in the control group were treated by open reduction retrograde self-locking intramedullary nail fixation .The operation time, blood loss, complica-tions, fracture healing time and the functions of shoulder and elbow joint were compared between the two groups .Results The operation time of the observation group and control group was (67.1 ±38.0) and (81.2 ±40.0) min, respectively (P>0.05);the amount of bleeding was (74.9 ±49.0) and (117.6 ±67.0) mL, respectively (P<0.05); the healing time was (14.5 ±2.1) and (18.5 ±2.9) weeks, respectively (P<0.05); the Constant scores were (93.9 ±6.9) and (91.5 ±5.8), respectively (P>0.05);and the Mayo scores were (89.8 ±7.1) and (86.4 ±6.8), respectively (P<0.05).No nonunion, iatrogenic nerve injury, iatrogenic fracture, postoperative infection and fixation failure were found in the two groups. Conclusion Minimally invasive reduction and intramedullary nail fixation has good effect in treatment of humeral fractures, whose amount of bleeding and healing time is less as compared with that of open reduction .
