Expression and significance of DEK gene in astrocytic tumor tissues

Abstract：Objective To investigate the role of DEK gene in the occurrence and development of astrocytic tumors . Methods Immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction ( RT-PCR) were used to examine the expression levels of DEK mRNA and protein in 32 cases of astrocytic tumor tissues ( observation group , low-grade and high-grade tumors were 14 cases and 18cases, respectively) and normal brain tissues (control group).Results The positive expression rate and the relative expression of DEK mRNA , expression intensity of DEK protein in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P<0.05);and the mentioned targets above in low-grade were lower than those in high-grade of the observation group (all P<0.05).Conclusions DEK gene has a promoting role in the occurrence and development of astrocytic tumors .
