Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of 4-hydroxy-2.2.6.6-tetramethyl-piperidinyloxy ( Tempol ) on the bacterial translocation from the gut and the endotoxin after portal hepatic obstruction of liver cirrhosis in rats .Methods Selecting 30 SD rats and using the CCl 4 to induce liver cirrhosis , and then dividing them into the sham operation group ( not blocking the porta hepatis ) , control group ( blocking the porta hepatis ) and experimental group which was injected Tempol before and after blocking the porta hepatis .The serum endotoxin level from the portal vein and vena venous blood of the three group was detected , and we took the mesenteric lymph nodes , liver and lung tissue to conduct the bacterial culture as well as the detections of small intestinal mucosa morphology and apoptosis .Results Compared with the sham operation group and the control group , the intestinal bacterial translocation and the level of serum endotoxin were decreased in the ex -perimental group (all P<0.05).Conclusion Tempol has the preventive effect on the bacterial translocation and endotox-in after hepatic portal obstruction in cirrhotic rats .
