Abstract:Objective To investigate the metabolic changes of cerebrospinal fluid ( CSF) in patients with tuberculous meningitis ( TBM) based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry ( GC-MS) .Methods The CSF metabolic components in 15 TBM patients (TBM group) and 14 healthy people (control group) were studied by GC-MS combined with principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least square discriminant analysis , and the specific metabolic substances were an-alyzed.Results Metabolic profiles of CSF in the TBM group changed significantly as compared with the control group , and 11 potential biological markers were identified , during which, L-threonic acid, lyxose, arabinose, galactose, glucose, dodecanoic acid , palmitic acid, stearic acid, 1-Monopalmitoylglycerol and 1-Monostearoylglycerol were down-regulated but glucitol was up-regulated in the TBM group .Conclusion Carbohydrate metabolism , fat metabolism and metabolism of a-mino acid in the TBM patients changed , which helps to the diagnosis and molecular basis research of TBM .
