Abstract:Objective To analyze the three items of blood glucose [ fasting plasma glucose ( FPG) , 2 h postprandial glucose (2 h PG) and hemoglobinA1c (HbA1c)] and clinical information deeply, to evaluate their reference ranges and thus to provide the valuable diagnostic information for patients with diabetes mellitus ( DM) .Methods According to the file of C28-A2 at clinical laboratory standardization committee , we retrospectively analyzed three items and diagnostic infor-mation of 7 614 elders in Luzhou , and established the reference ranges of three terms and built the receiver operating char-acteristic curve ( ROC) to diagnose DM and assess diagnosis values .Results The reference ranges of FPG , 2 h PG and HbA1c were 3.89-6.64 mmol/L, 4.11-7.73 mmol/L and HbA1c <6.2%, respectively. The ranks of diagnosis value for DM by FPG, 2 h PG and HbA1c were 2 h PG>FPG>HbA1c, and the area under ROC (AUC) were 0.975, 0.887 and 0.849, respectively. The point of tangency in diagnosis of DM was FPG , 6.8 mmol/L;2 h PG, 11.0mmol/L and HbA1c<6.2%.The diagnostic coincidence rate of FBPG was 83.02%, and 2 h PG was 95.57%.Conclusion The data min-ing of three items of blood glucose significantly improves the DM diagnostic value .
