The diagnosis and surgical treatment of cardial myxomas
Abstract：71 cases with cardiac myxomas were treated from 1988 to 2000.Thediagnosis was confirmed with echocardiography in all patients.The myxomas located in left atrium in 62 cases（multiple in3，ventricular septal defect in 2 and mitral incompetence in 1）and right atrium in 9.All patients underwent excision of myxoma under cardiopulmonary bypass. 2 patients died（2.8％），2 cases were recurrente following up from 9 months to 16 years after operation. This suggests that echocardiography plays a very important role in the diagnosis for the patients with cardiac myxomas.The patients with cardiac myxomas should undergo operation as soon as possible.The thorough excision of myxomas is the key to prevention of recurrence.
