Abstract:To observe the relationship between urine albumin excretion rate and bone density in patients with diabetes mellitus.According to urine albumin excretion rate(AER),106 diabetes patients were divided into three groups, normal albumin(AER<20g/min),microalbumin(20g/min<AER<200g/min)and macroalbumin(AER>200g/min),measured three groups’bone mineral density(BMD).Results showed that the BMD of lumbar spines(2~4)and femoral neck and G.T and Ward’s triangle were significantly lower in diabetic patients than in controls(P<0.01)expect for lumbar spines(2~4)in normal albumin and microalbumin group of male patients.Futhermore,in diabetes patients BMD was significantly lower in macroalbumin than in normal albumin and microalbumin groups(P<0.05).This suggest the BMD in diabetic nephropathy is decreased, which is more remarkble in the group with macroalbuminuria than in normal albuminuria and microalbuminuria groups
