Relationship between ACE gene I／D polymorphism and ischemic stroke
Abstract：To evaluate the relationship between angiotensin converting enzyme（ACE） gene I／D polymorphism and ischemic stroke in Chinese population，the I／D genotype of 294 patients with ischemic stroke and 280 controls without stroke was determined by polymerase chain reaction（PCR）and corresponding probe hybridization.Results showed that the I／D polymorphism was in agreement with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in either cases or controls，but neither the prevalence rates of genotypes nor allele frequency of I／D polymorphism was significantly different between these two groups.In addition，the distribution of this variant in China is very distinct to that of England.This suggests that the I／D polymorphism of ACE gene cannot be a genetic risk of ischemic stroke in Chinese population.
