Relationship between admission blood pressure and prognosis of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage
Abstract:To investigate the relationship between admission blood pressureand prognosis of patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage.A total of 1361 patients with intra cerebral hemorrhage were examined. The mean admission blood pressure were compared in patients with a fatal outcome and patients who survived. Results showed that the mean admission blood pressure of patients with a fatal outcome among those with putaminal and thalamic hemorrhage were significantly highier than that of those with a nonfatal outcome. No correlation between mean blood pressure and outcome was observed in the patients with subcortial, cerebellar and pontine hemorrhage. It suggests that an increased mean blood pressure on admission in putaminal and thalamic hemorrhage are related to increased mortality, while in patients with subcortical, cerebellar, and pontine hemorrhage, the mean blood pressure is not related to the clinical outcome.
