Abstract:This study was conducted using Cotoneaster horizontalis as material to study the effects of dif-ferent mixed substrates composed of Hypsizygus marmoreus residue, local topsoil(a weathered soil from moun-tain surface),vermiculite and sheep manure at different ratios on its growth parameters including plant height, crown width, stem diameter, leaf area, fresh leaf weight, chlorophyll content and plant biomass.Meanwhile,a comprehensive evaluation of each substrate was conducted using the membership function method. The re-sults showed that the optimal cultivation substrate was the T5 treatment(80%H.marmoreus residue and 20%vermiculite),followed by the T6 treatment(60%H.marmoreus residue,20%vermiculite and 20%local top-soil).Compared to the control(CK,100%local topsoil),T5 and T6 treatments had lower bulk density, but higher total porosity,pH value,EC value and organic matter contents, and led to the aboveground fresh and dry weights of C.horizontalis significantly higher. This study selected the optimal substrate formulation for the growth of C.horizontalis, which could help alleviate the shortage of non-renewable local topsoil resources.
