Abstract:The effects of trehalose at different concentrations(0,5,10,15,20 mmol·L-1)on growth and physiological metabolism of lily seedlings under 4℃low temperature stress were studied using lily variety Eyeliner as material. The results showed that root irrigation with appropriate concentration of trehalose solution promoted the growth of lily seedlings under low-temperature stress. The 10 mmol·L-1 trehalose treatment in-creased dry weight of lily plants by 0.52 g per plant and fresh weight by 4.67 g per plant, and increased the net growth rate of lily plant height by 2.29 times(P<0.05).Trehalose treatment enhanced the contents of chlorophyll and carotenoid in lily leaves under low-temperature stress, mitigated chlorophyll degradation, and facilitated lily seedling growth and biomass accumulation.Additionally, trehalose treatment increased the con-tents of soluble protein, soluble sugar and proline, and the activities of peroxidase(POD),superoxide dis-mutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and ascorbate peroxidase(APX)in lily leaves, but reduced the contents of H2O2,O2·-and MDA,which alleviated the damage of low-temperature stress to lily seedlings to a certain ex-tent and improved lily cold tolerance. The findings of this study could provide safe and efficient technical sup-ports for early spring low-temperature cultivation of lily.
