Abstract:To comprehensively evaluate the germinability of Polygonatum sibiricum Red.seeds, this study conducted the principal component analysis(PCA)and membership function analysis of 16 related indi-cators among 18 P.sibiricum germplasms,so as to comprehensively evaluate, identify and grade their germina-tion performance. The results showed that the 16 germination-related indicators exhibited variations at varying degrees with the coefficient of variation ranging from 9.68%to 206.91%.Four principal components were ex-tracted through principal component analysis, accounting for 91.90%of the total information.Through perform-ing calculation and clustering analysis of the comprehensive values of germination performance among different P.sibiricum germplasms using the membership function method and excessive cluster analysis,it could be di-vided into three grades as Grade I,Grade II and Grade III with one, three and 14 germplasms, respectively.Seven key indicators were selected from the 16 indicators using grey relational analysis.A mathematical model for evaluating the germination performance of P.sibiricum seeds was established using the stepwise regression method, which could quickly identify seed germination performance. The results of this study could provide theoretical and technical supports for breeding of P.sibiricum varieties with superior germination performance.
