Abstract:Proper nitrogen application is one of the important measures to control the growth and devel-opment of ramie(Boehmeria nivea L.).Therefore,this study explored the growth and development of ramie under waterlogging conditions through pot experiments, and also the regulatory mechanism of different nitrogen application levels on waterlogging stress of ramie through analyzing the activities of antioxidant enzymes and enzymes related to nitrogen metablism. The two-factor completely randomized block design was adopted, and the nitrogen application treatments were set as N0(0 g per pot),N1(1.2 g per pot),N2(2.4 g per pot)and N3(3.6 g per pot)based on two water treatments as normal water supply(CS)and waterlogging treat-ment(ZS).The ramie varieties of Tri-1 and Xiangzhu 3 were used as test varieties. The results showed that appropriate nitrogen application could effectively alleviate the inhibition effect of waterlogging stress on the growth of ramie, enhance the activity of antioxidant enzymes and nitrogen metabolism-related enzymes,pro-mote nitrogen transport and absorption, and facilitate the recovery of growth and physiological characteristics of ramie under waterlogging stress.Among them, the nitrogen application rate of 2.4 g per pot had the best effect. This study provided the theoretical reference and data support for ramie planting and management in wet and rainy areas of South China.
